Newest Popeyes in JoCo now open in Overland Park

The fried chicken joint has officially replaced sandwich chain Lion's Choice in the Overland Park space.

A fried chicken chain has officially unveiled its newest Johnson County location.

Chicken restaurant Popeyes opened its new location in Overland Park last week, where sandwich chain Lion’s Choice used to be.

Popeyes opened at 10313 Metcalf Ave.

  • The restaurant occupies a space off 103rd Street and Metcalf Avenue, near international grocery store World Fresh Market and coffee chain Scooter’s.
  • Lion’s Choice occupied that space for roughly five years before it closed in the summer of 2024.
  • Popeyes’ regular hours at the new restaurant are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

  • Popeyes is primarily known for its fried chicken.
  • That chicken comes in the form of wings, tenders and sandwiches.
  • In addition to chicken, Popeyes also offers other items like popcorn shrimp, buttered biscuits, coleslaw and mac and cheese.

This marks the sixth Popeyes in Johnson County

  • This new restaurant also serves as the second one in Overland Park, with another location at 7724 W. 151st St.
  • The Florida-based company also has locations in Shawnee, Lenexa, Mission and Olathe.
  • On the other side of the state line, Popeyes also has four locations in Kansas City, Missouri.
