Sandwich chain Subway shutters Olathe location

The company, known for sub sandwiches, still has several locations scattered around Johnson County.

A nationally known sandwich shop has closed one of its Johnson County locations.

Sandwich chain Subway recently shuttered an Olathe location, removing signage from the building and placing an announcement on the door letting customers know the restaurant had closed.

Subway was at 701 E. Santa Fe St.

  • The fast-casual restaurant occupied a space just off Santa Fe Street and Ridgeview Road.
  • Subway occupied that space for at least more than a decade before closing its doors.
  • The restaurant was also near other fast-casual eateries KFC and Long John Silver’s.

Subway still has several Johnson County locations

  • The restaurant, known for its sub sandwiches, still has four locations remaining in Olathe.
  • Outside of Olathe, the company also still has locations in Shawnee, Lenexa, Merriam, Overland Park and Gardner.
  • Across the state line, Subway also still has several locations in Kansas City, Missouri.

Another restaurant recently opened nearby

  • The departure of Subway comes as locally owned Champion Burritos opened just down Santa Fe Street.
  • The new restaurant opened its doors in September, marking Champion Burritos’ first location in the city.
  • The Kansas City, Missouri-based eatery made its Johnson County debut in Shawnee in 2023 before later expanding to Olathe.
