Leawood barbershop that gave customers haircuts, shaves and biz networking closes

The Gents Place, a Texas-based chain of “luxury” barbershops, had been open in Park Place for nearly 15 years before closing recently.

A barbershop offering “premium” men’s grooming services has closed its only Johnson County location.

The Gents Place, a Texas-based chain of “luxury” barbershops, has closed its Leawood shop after roughly 15 years in business.

The Gents Place was at 11544 Ash St.

  • The barbershop occupied a space at the Park Place shopping center, just off 115th Street and Nall Avenue.
  • There, it operated near Perspire Sauna Studio and MassageLuXe at the shopping center.
  • The shop advertised itself as a “premium” men’s grooming club, offering services like haircuts and shaves as well as a business lounge for networking events.

The barbershop had been in Leawood since 2011

  • Via an email to the Post, the company said its Leawood club has closed due to “licensing” issues.
  • The company also said it is in the process of resolving any membership-related matters with Leawood members.
  • “We appreciate the understanding and support from the Leawood community during this transition,” the company said.

Park Place is undergoing a lot of transition

  • On the same corner of Park Place that the Gents Place occupied, Olathe-based cookie shop Brown Suga is preparing to make its Leawood debut.
  • That opening will follow the recent addition of romance-centric book shop Smitten Booktique to the shopping center.
  • Kansas City, Missouri-based jewelry shop Dalia’s Silver Lining also plans to open a new shop at Park Place soon.
