A Wisconsin-based pizzeria appears to have left Johnson County.
Toppers Pizza has closed its Mission restaurant after roughly a decade in business.
Though a sign on the door says the closure is temporary, it offered no further information, and the Mission location has also been removed from the company’s website.
Toppers was at 6027 Metcalf Ave.
- The restaurant occupied a space at the Mission Crossing shopping center, just off Metcalf Avenue and Martway Street.
- Toppers was in business there for nearly a decade.
- The restaurant was also near Middle Eastern eatery Jerusalem Cafe at the shopping center.
This was Toppers’ only Johnson County location
- The Mission location also served as the only one in the wider Kansas City metro area.
- Further west in Kansas, Toppers still has locations in Lawrence and Topeka.
- Officials with the Wisconsin-based company did not immediately respond to inquiries about the Mission location’s closure.
Something else recently opened nearby
- The departure of Toppers Pizza from Mission comes as the city gains a new doughnut shop.
- Just a bit further east in Mission, Topeka-based Holy Moly Doughnuts recently started serving its doughnuts in the former Fluffy Fresh Donuts space on Johnson Drive.
- Before its closure, Fluffy Fresh had operated in downtown Mission for roughly three decades.
