New doughnut shop replacing Fluffy Fresh, which closed after 30 years in Mission

Holy Moly Doughnuts debuted in Johnson County at a place Mission customers have long visited for their early morning sugar fix.

One doughnut shop has officially taken the place of another in downtown Mission.

The owners of Topeka-based Holy Moly Doughnuts recently replaced downtown Mission staple Fluffy Fresh Donuts, opening their shop in the space in November.

The Post spoke with the owners for this story, but they declined to be fully identified, so we’re not including their comments.

Holy Moly opened at 5729 Johnson Drive

  • The doughnut shop occupies a space just off Johnson Drive and Outlook Street, near The Book Club and Truly Madly Depot.
  • Fluffy Fresh Donuts occupied that space for roughly three decades, before its closure earlier this year.
  • Holy Moly is generally open from 5 to 10 a.m. Thursday through Sunday.

Holy Moly offers doughnuts in various flavors

  • The cases at Holy Moly typically contain doughnuts in various flavors, some of which include glazed, blueberry, cinnamon twist and apple fritters.
  • Holy Moly’s flagship location operates further west in Topeka, where it opened roughly a year ago.
  • The new Mission shop serves as the second location for Holy Moly.

More doughnut shops are coming to Johnson County soon

  • Shawnee-based doughnut mainstay Mr D’s Donuts currently has a new Overland Park shop in the works.
  • That new shop will open in 2026, near new Thai eatery Thai Story off 143rd Street and Metcalf Avenue.
  • Further west, Pennsylvania-based Duck Donuts also plans to open a new shop in downtown Olathe — its third in Johnson County, with two more in Leawood and Prairie Village.
