A discount retailer has closed multiple Kansas City area stores, including one in Johnson County.
Missouri-based Retail Rebel closed its doors in Olathe on Friday, citing challenges related to “current economic conditions” as the reason.
Retail Rebel was at 873 S. Parker St.
- The store occupied a space just off Parker Street and Virginia Lane in Olathe.
- The store has been in its Olathe space since at least 2019.
- Retail Rebel was also near fellow discount retailer Dollar Tree and the Lone Elm Antique Mall.
Other Kansas City area stores are closing
- The company, based in Liberty, Missouri, closed two more stores in Belton and Claycomo, Missouri.
- Those stores closed on Friday, at the same time as the Olathe store.
- The Olathe store was Retail Rebel’s only store in Johnson County.
- Retail Rebel still has one more store in Kansas City, Kansas.
Something else recently closed nearby
- Near the former Retail Rebel on the same corner of Parker Street and Virginia Lane, burger chain Hardee’s also recently closed its doors in Olathe.
- The Tennessee-based fast food chain also closed a location in Overland Park, in addition to its Olathe location.
- Those two were the last locations in Johnson County for Hardee’s.
