New Hen House grocery store coming to Olathe development

The new grocery store will anchor the incoming Cedar Creek Marketplace development in Olathe.

A new Hen House grocery store is coming to Johnson County, as part of a new Olathe development.

The local grocer has proposed a new grocery store to anchor the incoming Cedar Creek Marketplace development in Olathe.

The store will be off Cedar Creek Parkway

  • The grocery store is proposed for the new development off Cedar Creek and Valley parkways in Olathe.
  • The roughly 16-acre development includes more retail in addition to the grocery store.
  • The project is currently going through city approvals in Olathe, and it gained the Olathe Planning Commission’s approval earlier this month.

This marks the second Hen House in Olathe

  • The grocery store, owned by Kansas City, Missouri-based Balls Foods Inc., has another store at 13600 S. Black Bob Road in Olathe.
  • Outside of Olathe, the grocer also has Johnson County stores in Leawood, Fairway, Lenexa, Overland Park and Prairie Village.
  • Hen House also has a store in Kansas City, Kansas.

Another Johnson County Hen House is changing

  • Over the weekend, the Hen House at the Fairway Shops closed its doors — but the closure is temporary.
  • On Feb. 7, the grocery store will reopen after a “glow up”, giving it some new features.
  • That includes offerings like new deli items, an international food bar, European-inspired pastries, and a new department focused on health and wellness.
