A well-known breakfast chain is expanding its Johnson County presence, this time at a new Overland Park development.
California-based IHOP has filed plans for a new restaurant at the Metcalf Village development in southern Overland Park.
IHOP is coming to 16109 Metcalf Ave.
- The restaurant aims to open at the incoming Metcalf Village development, which will be just off 159th Street and Metcalf Avenue.
- The southern Overland Park development will ultimately include a mix of residential, retail shops, restaurants and offices.
- Officials with IHOP said the new restaurant will open sometime in 2027.
IHOP already has 2 locations in Overland Park

- Though this would be the southernmost location in Overland Park, the California-based company already has two Overland Park locations, including one off 119th Street and Metcalf Avenue.
- Further north, IHOP also has a restaurant near Oak Park Mall, off 95th Street and Quivira Road.
- That one opened last year, next to a Paris Baguette.
Two IHOPs closed in Johnson County last year
- With the arrival of new IHOP locations came the closure of two of its restaurants in Johnson County, in Overland Park and Shawnee.
- At the time, those restaurants had been open for more than a decade.
- The California-based company also still has Johnson County locations in Merriam, Olathe and Edgerton.
