A drink shop offering caffeine in various forms has officially marked the latest step of its rapid Johnson County growth.
Last week, Iowa-based Hyper Energy Bar unveiled a new Overland Park shop — the brand’s second shop in Overland Park, and its third overall in Johnson County.
Hyper Energy Bar opened at 5400 Indian Creek Parkway
- The drink shop occupies a space just off 107th Street and Nall Avenue in Overland Park.
- There, it operates near QuikTrip and Topgolf.
- Hyper’s regular hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Hyper flavored energy drinks, lattes and more
The brand is known for flavored energy drinks like the “coolada” (coconut, pineapple and white chocolate), the “cosmic lightning” (peach, mango and pineapple) and the “orange burst” (orange, guava and lemon).
Outside of energy drinks, Hyper also serves a variety of flavored lattes, such as the “caramel crush” (French vanilla and caramel) and the “campfire” (marshmallow, chocolate, and brown sugar cinnamon).
In addition to its standard menu, Hyper also rotates through seasonal offerings — which, right now, includes summery drinks like the “patio punch” energy drink (with strawberry, cantaloupe, and lime) and the “banana swirl” (banana and shortbread).
The shop also serves snacks like muffins, cake pops and protein bars.
This marks the third Hyper store in Johnson County
Husband and wife Chris and Izzy Whalen launched Hyper Energy Bar in Iowa in 2021.
Though Hyper is new to Johnson County, the Whalen family isn’t. They own and operate multiple Johnson County hotels and eateries — including the Burger Shed restaurant inside the Embassy Suites in Olathe, and the Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse inside the Hilton Garden Inn in Olathe.
This year, the brand steadily debuted in Johnson County — starting with an Olathe opening in May, its first Overland Park shop in June, and now a second Overland Park shop this month.
Though Hyper is done growing in Johnson County for now, it’s still expanding its Kansas City area footprint. Another Hyper opening is slated for early August across the state line, in Blue Springs, Missouri.
“I think we have the best people and the best product, and we’d love to have people come check us out,” he said. “Everybody who does loves it.”
