A woman was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene of a fire that significantly damaged an Overland Park home Tuesday morning.
Firefighters from Overland Park and Olathe were called to 11508 W. 127th Place at 9:18 a.m.
The house is in the Amber Meadows neighborhood, southeast of 127th Street and Quivira Road.
In a news release, Overland Park Fire spokesperson Jason Rhodes said crews arrived to report heavy smoke and fire from the front of a two-story house with the resident safely outside.
“Firefighters initially attacked the fire from the exterior, knocking down the bulk of the fire, while additional crews entered the home to search and fight the fire inside,” Rhodes said in the release. “Fire crews encountered fire on the second floor and in the attic of the home.”

Command requested additional firefighters to assist, bringing in more crews from Overland Park and Olathe.
“Access was complicated by numerous contents in the home,” Rhodes said. “It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.”
Johnson County Med-Act paramedics treated a woman for minor smoke inhalation at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
