Pump it Up, known for bouncy birthday parties, closes in Overland Park

The company's only Johnson County location, the Overland Park business was open there for roughly seven years.

Overland Park just lost a place for kids to jump into a new age.

Pump It Up, an indoor inflatables venue known for bouncy birthday parties, has closed its doors in Overland Park — marking a departure from Johnson County as a whole.

Pump It Up was at 8510 W. 135th St.

  • The amusement center occupied a space off 135th Street and Antioch Road in Overland Park.
  • There, it operated near Sam’s Club and breakfast eatery The Big Biscuit.
  • Pump It Up occupied that Overland Park space for roughly seven years before its closure.

This was Pump It Up’s only Johnson County location

  • The Overland Park venue was also the company’s only location in the wider Kansas City metro area.
  • Pump It Up’s flagship location is in California, but it also has locations in other states like Washington, Texas and Virginia.
  • While Pump It Up was known for its inflatable birthday parties, it also offered open play during select hours.

Something else recently opened nearby

  • Meanwhile, Pump It Up’s space recently gained a new neighbor: multivendor concept Collective Boutiques.
  • The new venture opened in August, with vendors offering a variety of goods like clothing and home decor.
  • Collective Boutiques replaced the Painted Tree in the space, which abruptly closed all of its locations earlier this year.
