After making its Johnson County debut last year, a restaurant known for its chicken salad will soon say hello to another part of the area.
Georgia-based Chicken Salad Chick has a new location in the works in Olathe.
Chicken Salad Chick is coming to 14991 W. 119th St.
- The restaurant will take over a space at the Olathe Pointe shopping center, just off 119th Street and Black Bob Road in Olathe.
- The space, combined for Chicken Salad Chick, was previously occupied by two tenants: a sun tanning salon, and sandwich shop Penn Station.
- Pending construction, Chicken Salad Chick aims to open in Olathe in January or February 2027.
The restaurant serves chicken salad in various flavors
As the name implies, Chicken Salad Chick offers chicken salad in many different flavors — either as scoops with crackers or between bread.
Some of the best-sellers, franchise co-owner Jo Anne Williams said, are the “fancy nancy” (with grapes, apples and pecans) and the spicy “buffalo barclay”.
In addition to its standing flavors, Chicken Salad Chick also rotates seasonal flavors like the current Nashville Hottie flavor.
The restaurant also serves sides like broccoli salad and mac and cheese, and sweets like sugar cookies and white chocolate cake.
This marks the third Chicken Salad Chick in Johnson County
All of the Johnson County locations have the same franchise owners: Sisters Jo Anne Williams and Cindy Sulzman. Chicken Salad Chick also has two locations on the Missouri side of the Kansas City metro area, under different franchise ownership.
Williams and Sulzman opened their first Chicken Salad Chick location in June 2025, off 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park. Since then, Williams said, the brand has made a splash locally.
“When we committed to the brand, we committed to opening three locations in Johnson County, and we really felt like Olathe would be a great market for us,” she said. “We have people that travel to the Overland Park store from Olathe, asking ‘When are you going to open in Olathe?’”
The new Olathe storefront isn’t the only expansion on the horizon for Chicken Salad Chick.
The same franchise owners have another new location coming to southern Overland Park’s Bluhawk development. That one aims to open in summer 2027.
“We really don’t have the competition in the market, and people love having something that’s more refreshing, not just your everyday burger and fries or pizza,” Williams said.
It’s not just the food that Williams said has landed with Overland Park customers. It’s also the friendly environment created by the team there.
“We’re certainly proud of our staff, and they are the ones that make it work every single day,” she said. “It’s a place where people want to come and sit and meet new friends, old friends, family — sit and chit chat, enjoy the food, enjoy the environment.”
