An eatery known for “golden” fried chicken has set its sights on Olathe.
Texas-based Golden Chick has a new location in the works there, which will also be the company’s first location in Johnson County.
Golden Chick is coming to 815 S. Parker St.
- The restaurant aims to take over a space just off Virginia Lane and Parker Street in Olathe.
- The space was previously occupied by fast food chain Hardee’s, which closed both of its remaining Johnson County locations earlier this year.
- Pending city approvals and construction, a representative with the company said Golden Chick aims to open in Olathe in early 2027.
The restaurant offers “golden eats”
- Golden Chick is known for its fried chicken, which comes in various forms.
- Customers can opt for either bone-in or boneless wings or chicken tenders, as well as chicken sandwiches.
- In addition to fried chicken, Golden Chick serves other items like fried catfish, salads, and sides like french fries, fried okra or mac and cheese.
This marks the first Golden Chick in Johnson County
- The new Olathe franchise will also serve as the first in the wider Kansas City metro area for the company.
- Golden Chick got its start in San Marcos, Texas (then called Golden Fried Chicken) in 1967.
- Outside of Texas, Golden Chick now also has locations in Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
