Kansas-based cafe Mokas Coffee & Eatery debuting in Olathe

The new Olathe coffee shop and eatery will be the first in Johnson County for the Kansas-based company.

A Kansas-based coffee shop is preparing to make its Johnson County debut.

On Sept. 30, Mokas Coffee & Eatery will celebrate the grand opening of its new Olathe franchise.

Mokas is opening at 11814 S. Fellows St.

  • The coffee shop occupies a newly-built space just off 119th Street and Ridgeview Road in Olathe.
  • There, the roughly 3,100-square-foot cafe will operate near Ridgeview Eye Care, Great Clips and Arby’s.
  • For its grand opening, Mokas plans to offer festivities like a $100 social media giveaway and the chance to spin a wheel for prizes like tote bags and gift cards.

Mokas serves coffee, all-day breakfast and more

Mokas’ menu features a wide variety of coffee drinks, from traditional ones like cold brews and americanos to seasonal drinks like specialty lattes like the “red, white & brew” (raspberry and white chocolate) and the caramel royale (caramel and vanilla).

Outside of coffee, Mokas also serves other beverages like chai and matcha lattes, fruit smoothies and energy drinks.

In addition to its beverages, Mokas also is also known for all-day breakfast items like breakfast sandwiches and burritos — in addition to pastries and lunch items like wraps and salads.

This marks the first Mokas in Johnson County

The new Olathe store is also the first in the wider Kansas City metro area for the company.

Mokas initially got its start 20 years ago, further west in Salina, Kansas. Franchise owner Christian Coleman will be the company’s first franchisee.

According to a release, Olathe won’t be the only Kansas City area location for Mokas. Coleman plans to open five more locations across the Kansas City metro area.

“I’ve always been driven to create experiences that bring people together,” said Coleman, via the release. “Opening our first Mokas in Olathe is the realization of everything my team and I have been working toward. This community has already shown us so much warmth, and we can’t wait to bring that same Midwest hospitality to our guests every single day.”
