A Missouri-based ice cream shop is nearing its first opening in Johnson County.
Clementine’s Ice Cream will open its doors at the Shops of Prairie Village on Friday.
Clementine’s will take over the space formerly occupied by Chill in the Village, which closed earlier this year.
Clementine’s is opening at 6966 Mission Road
- The shop moved into a space at the Shops of Prairie Village, just off 69th Terrace and Mission Road.
- Chill in the Village occupied that space for roughly seven years before its closure.
- There, Clementine’s will also operate near Village Flower Company at the shopping center.

Clementine’s serves “naughty and nice” ice cream
- The menu at Clementine’s offers both “nice” flavors like honey lavender and pumpkin gooey butter cake, and “naughty” cocktail-inspired flavors like maple bourbon and chocolate cabernet. (A spokesperson for the Prairie Village store clarified that the liquor-infused flavors won’t be available yet at the time of the opening, but will arrive at the Prairie Village shop later on.)
- The ice cream company got its start in the St. Louis area, where it now has eight locations.
- The Prairie Village shop will serve as the brand’s first foray into Johnson County.
Chill in the Village closed at the end of May
- Chill in the Village had been in business for roughly seven years, serving frozen yogurt in a variety of flavors.
- In a statement to the Post at the time, owner Kari Nelson said she was thankful for the community helping make Chill the success that it was.
- “I’ll forever be grateful for the amazing community that made Chill in the Village so special,” Nelson said. “Watching the many kids, including my own, grow up coming into CHILL and working at CHILL has truly been a gift.”
