Mini-golf complex serving food and cocktails set to open this week in Overland Park

Tap Ins at the Greenhouse opens on Tuesday, offering mini golf, cocktails and other entertainments near 95th and Metcalf.

After much anticipation, a new mini-golf venue will officially open for its first rounds this week.

Tap Ins at the Greenhouse officially opens Tuesday, offering mini golf and other forms of entertainment.

Tap Ins opened at 9571 Metcalf Ave.

  • The venue is opening in a newly built roughly four-acre space at the southeast corner of 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue.
  • There, it operates near Lowe’s and Texas Roadhouse.
  • Tap Ins’ regular hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to midnight Friday, 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

At Tap Ins, there are two golf courses on site — one outdoors, and another one inside a retractable, temperature-controlled greenhouse.

In addition to mini golf, Tap Ins also features more than 100 televisions for game-watching, multiple rentable spaces, and yard games for warmer months.

In between games, mini-golfers can also grab cocktails and “American-style” fare from Tap Ins’ on-site restaurant. Its menu offers items like salads, burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers like mozzarella bites and pulled pork sliders.

In addition to the restaurant, Tap Ins also features multiple bars and an ice cream shop that serves local ice creamery Summer Salt’s ice cream.

Despite winter not typically being prime mini-golf weather, Patton said he doesn’t expect the first few months at Tap Ins to be slow by any means.

In fact, he said he expects quite the opposite, thanks to the climate-controlled greenhouse.

“Based on the initial feedback, I think we’re expecting it to be kind of a fire hose of people,” he said. “It certainly gives some people something fun to do in the winter while not feeling like you’re cooped up in a chair. You can get up and move around and do stuff as a family or with friends.”

In the week leading up to Tap Ins’ opening, Patton said excitement levels have been high — from other businesses, but also from the Overland Park community at large.

“(It’s been) very humbling, how much people have been wanting to see it come to life,” he said. “To finally get here and have it meet all of our expectations for what we were looking for has been really, really gratifying. There’s nothing like seeing people in your restaurant, your concept, and knowing you’re bringing something new and fun and vibrant to the city.”
