Last week, the website FlipKey (a TripAdvisor property) unveiled its 2015 list of 50 “Restaurants Worth Traveling For” — and local diners will likely be impressed by the results.

Two Kansas City-area eateries made the list, and both have chefs based in northeast Johnson County.

Story at the Village Shops, the vision of chef Carl Thorne-Thomsen, who lives in Fairway, was the honoree for the state of Kansas. And in Missouri, the winner was Q39, the red-hot Kansas City, Mo., BBQ joint helmed by chef Rob Magee, a Prairie Village resident.
