A new dentistry practice specializing in preventative and restorative teeth care has arrived in Johnson County.
The Smile Line Studio, a locally-owned dentistry clinic, opened its first office recently in southern Leawood in the Park Place retail complex.
Smile Line operates at 11526 Ash St.
- The practice moved into a space on the northern end of the Park Place shopping center, in the space previously occupied by Mexican restaurant Carma Cantina.
- Smile Line neighbors Sandlot Goods, a new locally owned athletic wear store, off 115th and Ash Streets.
- Smile Line operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.
Smile Line offers preventative, cosmetic and restorative care
- The practice’s service entail anything from routine cleanings and checkups to cosmetic services like teeth whitening and restorative services like root canal therapy.
- This is the first self-owned practice for Dr. Geoff Kerns, the studio’s lead dentist.
- He said the practice typically sees roughly 10 to 12 patients per day.
- “We like to take the time to really sit down and talk about your oral health,” he said. “A lot of people can kind of roll their eyes at that, but at the same time, a lot of the stuff that goes on in your mouth can affect stuff that goes on in your heart and other conditions.”
The dentistry offers membership financing
- Smile Line Studio’s monthly memberships start at $40 per month, which can serve as a coverage alternative to dental insurance.
- That includes routine preventative care every year and a 20% discount on any other needed treatment.
- Kerns said what sets the practice apart from other dentistries is its “quality over quantity” approach in taking fewer patients a day to maximize care.
- “Having a smaller operation and a smaller office, we have closer relationships with our patients,” he said. “We’re one of the few health specialists where what we fix a lot of times doesn’t hurt or doesn’t feel like anything to a patient. So really educating and being able to take that time and education and talk about certain things (with the patient) is important.”
