Aldi coming soon to new-look Overland Park shopping center — When will it open?

Share this story:

Discount grocery store Aldi will soon open its newest Johnson County location.

The Germany-based grocer will mark the opening of its new Overland Park store with a ribbon-cutting event on Dec. 5.

Aldi will be at 12055 Metcalf Ave.

  • The grocery store is taking over a space on the eastern end of the Southglen shopping center, just off West 119th Street and Metcalf Avenue.
  • National retailer buybuy BABY previously occupied that space, before it closed last summer.
  • The space was also previously home to a Borders bookstore, which closed in 2011.

This marks the 10th Aldi store in Johnson County

  • The new Southglen store will serve as the fourth location in Overland Park.
  • Outside of Overland Park, Aldi also has stores in Shawnee, Roeland Park, Olathe and Lenexa.
  • Across the state line, the grocery also has 10 stores in Kansas City, Missouri.

Another grocery store will open soon nearby

  • International grocer Pan-Asia Supermarket will soon move from its current spot at 11940 Metcalf Ave. into the space next to Aldi.
  • Representatives at that store previously estimated that Pan-Asia Market will be moved into its new space by this upcoming winter or spring.
  • The only other retail tenant currently open at the Southglen shopping center is clothing retailer Old Navy.
