An opening is on the horizon for outdoor retailer Sierra’s newest Johnson County store.

Signs at the company’s new Lenexa space say its new Lenexa location will open its doors on Saturday, March 15.

Sierra will open at 9656 Quivira Road

  • The store will occupy a space at the Orchard Corners shopping center, just across Quivira Road from Oak Park Mall.
  • Stein Mart previously occupied the space before it closed in 2020.
  • Sierra will also share the space with pet retailer Petco, which will relocate from its spot at the Quivira 95 Shops to the new Lenexa space later this year.

Sierra offers active and outdoor gear

  • Sierra — formerly Sierra Trading Post — sells outdoor apparel items for men, women and children.
  • Sierra’s inventory includes clothing items like jackets, sweaters and boots, as well as travel items like suitcases and backpacks.
  • The company also features gear for outdoor activities like camping, running, skiing and fishing.

This marks Sierra’s second store in Johnson County

  • The Arizona-based retailer opened its first Johnson County store in May 2024.
  • That store operates at the growing Bluhawk shopping center in southern Overland Park.
  • Outside of Johnson County, Sierra also has one other Kansas store in Wichita.
