Made in KC, brand that touts metro pride, opening new Johnson County location

The new Oak Park Mall shop serves as the fifth Johnson County store for the Kansas City, Missouri-based brand.

Kansas City, Missouri-based Made in KC, a well-known retailer selling locally themed goods, gifts and apparel, is expanding its Johnson County presence.

The brand, which offers a wide variety of Kansas City-made goods that tout pride in local sports teams and rep images of iconic locations, is moving into a new space in Overland Park.

Made in KC is coming to the Oak Park Mall

  • The store is moving into a space on the upper level of Oak Park Mall, which is just off 95th Street and Quivira Road.
  • There, it will neighbor women’s clothing shops Aur Society and Tabu Knits.
  • Customers at Made in KC shops can find a wide variety of items, from Kansas City Chiefs-themed apparel to locally-made art and books about Kansas City’s history.

This marks the fifth Made in KC store in Johnson County

  • Made in KC already has retail stores at Lenexa City Center, downtown Overland Park, the Prairiefire shopping district further south in Overland Park and Corinth Square in Prairie Village.
  • Made In KC also runs two cafés in Johnson County — the beach-themed Outta the Blue in Leawood and the mountain-themed Front Range in the Fairway Shops.
  • Made in KC also has five stores in different neighborhoods of Kansas City, Missouri, as well as in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Oak Park Mall has had another recent addition

  • The arrival of Made in KC to the Overland Park mall will follow Kansas City-based restaurant Taste of Brazil’s recent debut there.
  • The restaurant opened its new Oak Park Mall location at the end of September, serving Brazilian “street snacks” like açaí bowls and cheese bread.
  • Taste of Brazil got its start at the City Market in Kansas City, Missouri in 2013.
