Fast-casual eatery PepperJax Grill closes only JoCo location in Mission

The Mission location was the Nebraska-based chain's only location in Johnson County.

A Nebraska-based restaurant chain officially left Johnson County earlier this year.

Fast-casual eatery PepperJax Grill has shuttered its Mission location after roughly a decade in business.

PepperJax Grill was at 5922 Barkley St.

  • The restaurant occupied a space at the Cornerstone Commons shopping center, just off Barkley Street and Johnson Drive.
  • It opened in that space at the end of 2015.
  • PepperJax Grill was also near burger chain Five Guys (which has since relocated to Shawnee) at the shopping center.

This was PepperJax Grill’s only Johnson County location

  • The only PepperJax Grill locations remaining in Kansas are further west in Lawrence and Topeka.
  • Across the state line, PepperJax Grill still has locations in Kansas City, St. Joseph, and Belton, Missouri.
  • PepperJax Grill is known in part for its Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, along with other items like rice bowls, burritos and nachos.

One Mission business closes, another one moves

  • Near the former site of PepperJax, sports apparel retailer Rally House is preparing to start a new chapter in a new space.
  • The store currently operates at 6858 Johnson Drive, but it will soon relocate to the Mission West shopping center off Johnson Drive and Barkley Street.
  • Rally House will reopen in its new space at 6753 Johnson Drive in the spring of 2026.
