A growing Prairie Village shopping center has officially gained its latest addition: healthy eatery Flower Child.
This week, the Arizona-based company greeted its first customers and served its first meals at the Corinth Quarter shopping center.
Flower Child opened at 3915 W. 83rd St.
- The restaurant took over a space at the Corinth Quarter shopping center, which is just off 83rd Street and Mission Road.
- There, it operates near pet retailer Brookside Barkery and the future site of sandwich shop La Fetta.
- Flower Child is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Flower Child serves “health-minded” cuisine
The menu at Flower Child offers a variety of wraps, bowls and salads, served with housemade sauces and dressings.
Some of its best-sellers include the “Mother Earth” bowl, chicken enchiladas, green chile queso and customizable plates in which customers can choose a protein and two sides (such as roasted broccoli, cauliflower risotto or gluten-free mac and cheese).
Regional manager Kenny Barsalou described the concept as “full-service food in a fast-casual environment”.
In addition to its standing menu, Flower Child also rotates in seasonal offerings multiple times a year.
“There’s something for everybody on our menu,” he said. “We’re not bound to any one cuisine. We have Asian, we have Indian, we have Mexican; that’s what keeps it fun and fresh.”
This marks the first Flower Child in Johnson County
The new Prairie Village location is also the first in the wider Kansas City metro for the restaurant.
Flower Child operates under Fox Restaurant Concepts, which itself is under The Cheesecake Factory ownership umbrella.
The Prairie Village eatery is Flower Child’s 45th opening overall.
Barsalou, who has been with the Flower Child brand for nearly a decade, oversees 10 locations across Oklahoma, Texas and now Kansas.
“It’s been a fun ride, and through that, we’ve just refined ourselves and gotten better over the years,” he said.
So far, Barsalou said, Flower Child has been eagerly received by Kansas City area customers, which could potentially mean more locations in the future if it continues to resonate.
For now, though, the focus is on getting up and running in Flower Child’s new home at the newly-redeveloped Corinth Quarter.
“We were lucky to get this spot,” he said. “It’s kind of cool to be a part of this, anchoring down this corner and hopefully seeing some evolution in this center and in the area as a whole. We’re happy to be here and think we add to the culinary landscape a little bit and give people some options.”
