An Asian lifestyle brand appears to be preparing for a Johnson County debut.
Japanese retailer EBISU has filed plans to open a new store in Overland Park, the brand’s first in the Kansas City metro area.
EBISU is coming to 9148 Metcalf Ave.
- The store aims to take over a space at the Regency Plaza shopping center, just off 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue.
- The Metcalf Antique Mall previously occupied that space, until it moved into a new space next-door at the same shopping center.
- EBISU will also be near Natural Grocers and Cardboard Corner Cafe at the shopping center.
EBISU offers “curated” Asian goods
- EBISU stores are stocked with a variety of items, from cosmetics and toys to kitchen and storage items.
- The company also offers some edible items like chips, candy and bottled drinks.
- EBISU also offers a rotating selection of seasonal items (such as holiday decor).
This marks the first EBISU in Johnson County
- The new Overland Park store would also serve as the first in the wider Kansas City metro area.
- The Japanese company’s flagship store opened in Osaka, Japan, in 2018.
- Since then, EBISU has opened several stores in the United States — in states like New York, Texas, California and North Carolina.
