Mediterranean eatery Zhoug makes JoCo debut at Lenexa’s growing ‘Restaurant Row’

The restaurant's opening this month on Restaurant Row in Lenexa City Center marks its debut in Johnson County.

A growing restaurant district in Lenexa has officially unveiled its newest eatery.

Fast-casual eatery Zhoug Mediterranean opened its doors this month at the Restaurant Row development at Lenexa City Center.

Zhoug opened at 16728 City Center Drive

  • The restaurant moved into a 3,000-square-foot space at Restaurant Row, which is just off 87th Street and Renner Boulevard.
  • There, it will neighbor incoming southern-style restaurant Tupelo Honey inside the newly built building.
  • Zhoug’s Lenexa location is open from 10:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Zhoug serves “fresh and authentic” Mediterranean fare

  • At Zhoug, customers can create their own bowls or pita wraps with chicken shawarma, gyro meat (beef and lamb) or falafel on top of a base of their choice.
  • From there, customers can add a variety of toppings and sauces to their bowl or wrap.
  • In addition to bowls and wraps, Zhoug also offers sides like french fries and pita chips.

This marks Zhoug’s Johnson County debut

  • The restaurant’s first location opened as The Fresh Mediterranean Co. out of a Cenex gas station in Lawrence — where it still operates.
  • Under the Zhoug name, the restaurant recently opened another location across the state line in Kansas City, Missouri.
  • Zhoug also marks the latest of multiple eateries to come onboard at the Restaurant Row development, following the openings of healthy eatery Enjoy Pure Food + Drink in November 2024 and Mexican restaurant Cactus Grill earlier this year.
