After an Old Navy store closed in Overland Park earlier this year, its replacement is already on the horizon.
TurnStyles Thrift, a nonprofit thrift store operated by Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, is in the process of moving into the space at the busy intersection of 119th Street and Metcalf Avenue.
If all goes according to plan, the store will open its doors in its new space this summer.
TurnStyles Thrift is coming to 12065 Metcalf Ave.
- The store is coming to a space at the Southglen shopping center, near Pan-Asia Supermarket and Aldi.
- Old Navy occupied that space for roughly three decades before closing earlier this year.
- Once TurnStyles Thrift opens, its regular hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. (The shop’s donation acceptance hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.)
TurnStyles Thrift offers various goods at discounted prices

The racks and shelves at TurnStyles stores offer a variety of items, from clothing for kids and adults to household items like furniture and decor.
TurnStyles is a donation-driven thrift shop. Staff and volunteers work through each donation to price and place items in good condition on the sales floor.
Keisha Gracius, senior director of social enterprise operations for Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, estimated that a typical TurnStyles store relies on at least two volunteers for every staff member.
This marks the fourth TurnStyles Thrift store

TurnStyles Thrift’s flagship store operates further north at 9750 W. 87th St. in Overland Park. There, it shares a building with Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas’ home office.
The original Overland Park store opened in 2004. Since then, TurnStyles Thrift has opened two more stores; one further south off 135th Street in Overland Park, and another in Mission.
In addition to being the brand’s second-largest retail store, Gracius said, the new store has the added excitement of being in a part of Overland Park that TurnStyles hasn’t gotten to dip into yet.
Choosing the 119th and Metcalf corridor was deliberate. Gracius said the goal was a high-traffic area that would generate strong donations and attract shoppers, but not overlap too heavily with existing TurnStyles stores.
“We’ve not had an opening in about seven years, so this is exciting to have this fourth store opening,” she said. “Our business is growing, and we’re excited to be in a community that we’re not reaching right now.”
