Bookseller Barnes & Noble has officially unveiled its newest Johnson County store, at a growing Overland Park development.
The New York-based company celebrated the grand opening of its new store at the Bluhawk development in southern Overland Park on Wednesday.
Barnes & Noble opened at 7840 W. 161st St.
- The bookseller occupies a newly-built space at the Bluhawk mixed-use development, just off West 159th Street and U.S. Highway 69.
- There, Barnes & Noble will operate near J. Crew Factory at the shopping center.
- The store is also in a new building just north of the new AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk, which opened last year.

This marks the third Barnes & Noble in Johnson County
- The new Bluhawk store also serves as the second in Overland Park for the company.
- The New York-based bookseller’s first Overland Park store operates on the lower level of the Oak Park Mall.
- Outside of Overland Park, Barnes & Noble also has a store at Leawood’s Town Center Plaza.
The Bluhawk development is growing
- Barnes & Noble comes as the latest in a growing number of new businesses to Bluhawk, as part of its second phase of retail development.
- The bookstore’s new neighbor at Bluhawk, J. Crew Factory, also opened this summer.
- Fast-casual healthy eatery SaladWorks and drive-thru soda chain Swig also plan to open at Bluhawk later this year.
