Burger chain Shake Shack unveils new location on prominent JoCo corner

Shake Shack marks the latest in a number of recent additions to the growing Merriam Grand Station shopping center.

A New York-based burger chain is marking its latest Johnson County debut.

Shake Shack opened its doors on Wednesday at the growing Merriam Grand Station development.

Shake Shack opened at 8811 Shawnee Mission Parkway

  • The restaurant took over a newly constructed space at the Merriam Grand Station development, just off Shawnee Mission Parkway and Antioch Road.
  • There, it neighbors breakfast eatery HomeGrown, which opened at the shopping center earlier this year.
  • Shake Shack’s regular hours in Merriam are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Shake Shack is known for burgers and fries

  • Shake Shack’s menu features a range of burgers, as well as other items like chicken sandwiches and hot dogs.
  • The restaurant is also known for its milkshakes, which come in flavors like chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, and banana pudding.
  • Shake Shack also serves sides like parmesan garlic fries and onion rings.

This marks the second Shake Shack in Johnson County

  • In addition to its spot at Merriam Grand Station, Shake Shack has another Johnson County location in Leawood.
  • The arrival of Shake Shack also marks the latest addition to the busy Merriam shopping center, following HomeGrown and 30hop.
  • Across the street, specialty grocery store Trader Joe’s is on its way to the former site of Antioch Library — as part of a $102 million mixed-use redevelopment there.
