A year after moving in, French bistro Aixois closes at Leawood’s Park Place

The French restaurant was only open for about a year and a half at Leawood's Park Place. Another location is still open in Kansas City, Missouri.

A Kansas City-based French bistro’s Johnson County debut appears to have been short-lived.

French restaurant Aixois has permanently closed in Leawood, after roughly a year and a half there.

Employees at the Kansas City, Missouri, location confirmed the closure when reached by the Post, and the Leawood location has since been removed from Aixois’ website.

Aixois was at 11570 Ash St.

  • The restaurant occupied a space at the Park Place shopping center, just off 115th Street and Nall Avenue.
  • Before Aixois took over that space, it previously housed Pig & Finch Gastropub for roughly a decade.
  • Aixois was also by the Aloft hotel and Upgrade Group Training.

Aixois opened in Leawood last year

  • The restaurant opened in its Leawood space in June 2024.
  • The Leawood location was Aixois’ only one in Johnson County.
  • Owners Emmanuel and Megan Langlade opened Aixois’ original location in Kansas City, Missouri’s Crestwood neighborhood in 2001. (That location remains open.)

Park Place has seen lots of recent turnover

  • The closure of Aixois follows the closure of children’s boutique Owen & Graham at the Leawood shopping center earlier this year.
  • However, Park Place has also seen several new arrivals — including as Mexican restaurant LaPez Mod Mex, just across Ash Street from Aixois.
  • Romance bookstore Smitten Booktique also recently opened at Park Place, and jewelry store Dalia’s Silver Lining plans to follow suit later this year.
