Duck Donuts is latest eatery moving into downtown Olathe — Here’s where it’s going

Duck Donuts will take over a space on Kansas Avenue that was originally slated to be a new Hermetheus Coffee shop.

A Pennsylvania-based doughnut shop is again expanding its Johnson County footprint — this time into Olathe’s new-look downtown.

As announced by the city this week, Duck Donuts has a new shop in the works on Kansas Avenue, near Johnson County Square and a block away from the county courthouse.

Duck Donuts is coming to 101 S. Kansas Ave.

  • Duck Donuts serves small, made-to-order doughnuts in a variety of flavors, some of which include maple bacon, blueberry pancake, s’mores and chocolate-covered strawberries.
  • In addition to its doughnuts, Duck Donuts also serves other treats like doughnut ice cream sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches and milkshakes.
  • Its menu also includes coffee drinks like lattes, mochas and macchiatos.

This marks the third Duck Donuts in Johnson County

  • Johnson County’s first Duck Donuts franchise opened at Leawood’s Ranch Mart North shopping center roughly seven years ago, before relocating to West 123rd Street and State Line Road in 2020.
  • Then, in April 2024, local franchise owners Ryan and Katie McNeil opened their second shop at the Corinth Square shopping center in Prairie Village.
  • Duck Donuts also comes on the heels of several other eateries planned for Olathe’s growing downtown — most recently including Kansas City-based restaurants Pizza 51 and Third Street Social.
  • Barbecue eatery Char Bar, local bar and grill Austins and frozen yogurt shop Fifth & Emery also have new locations in the works in downtown Olathe.
