Athletic wear retailer coming to Leawood’s Town Center Plaza

Set to open sometime this fall, the new Leawood store will mark ALO's Johnson County debut.

A West Coast athleisure retailer is approaching its Johnson County debut.

California-based ALO has a new store in the works in Leawood. According to a release, the store is targeting a fall opening.

ALO is coming to 4868 W. 119th St

  • The store is coming to a space at the Town Center Plaza shopping center, which is just off 119th Street and Roe Avenue in Leawood.
  • Clothing boutique Sundance previously occupied that space.
  • The store is also next to clothing retailer Gap at the shopping center.

ALO sells “high-performance” athletic apparel

  • The California-based brand offers athletic wear for both women and men.
  • That includes items like jackets, leggings, sweatshirts and running shoes.
  • ALO also carries accessories and wellness items like bags, hats, socks and yoga mats.

This marks ALO’s first Johnson County store

  • The new Leawood store also serves as the first in the wider Kansas City metro area for the West Coast-based retailer.
  • ALO also comes as the latest in a growing number of new additions to Town Center Plaza and the catty-corner Town Center Crossing in Leawood.
  • For example, Arkansas-based taco eatery Local Lime also plans to open at Town Center Plaza later this year.
