HCA Midwest Health opens new walk-in urgent care clinic in Olathe

HCA Midwest Health, a health care provider serving Johnson County and the greater Kansas City metro, has officially expanded its urgent care offerings in Olathe.

The provider opened its second CareNow Urgent Care in Olathe earlier this fall — a move that officials say will help meet a growing demand in the city and in Johnson County.

CareNow Urgent Care is at 11963 South Black Bob Road

  • The center occupies a space at the Olathe Pointe shopping center, just off 119th Street and Black Bob Road.
  • There, it neighbors pet retailer Treats Unleashed and Mexican eatery Viva Tacos & Tequila.
  • CareNow is open for patients from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

CareNow specializes in acute illness and injury treatment

CareNow primarily operates on a walk-in basis, though patients can check in online in advance.

Patients can come into CareNow for a vast range of services, from in-office X-rays and flu shots to infection treatment and physical exams.

CareNow Urgent Medical Director Mary Devers said the facility serves as an in-between point for patients who need care, but can’t see their primary care provider right away.

If their regular provider is under the HCA Midwest Health umbrella, then the center can also update that patient’s records for their regular doctor to see as well.

Devers said CareNow facilities generally see between 35 and 45 patients during a 12-hour period.

“We are here to fill those acute needs,” she said. “We see you when you’re acutely ill or acutely injured, treat you, and then get you back to your regular doctor.”

CareNow will likely expand more in Johnson County

As of now, CareNow has six facilities in Johnson County — with two in Olathe, two in Overland Park, one in Prairie Village and one in Lenexa.

Across the state line, CareNow also has several facilities in Missouri, including a recently-opened center in Grandview as of Nov. 19.

In addition to the existing locations, Devers said she foresees a growing demand for even more Johnson County expansion in the future.

“Kansas City, specifically Johnson County, just has a high need,” she said. “People can’t get into their regular primary care providers when they’re sick, and we are here to fill that niche.”
