Pizza joint Sarpino’s reopens in new Overland Park space

The pizza restaurant replaced acai bowl shop Nautical Bowls, which left Johnson County at the end of 2024.

After more than 15 years, a pizzeria has traded one Overland Park space for another.

Last week, Illinois-based pizzeria Sarpino’s officially marked its grand reopening at 135th Street and Quivira Road, after relocating from its longtime space a bit further north on Quivira Road.

There, it has now officially replaced acai bowl shop Nautical Bowls, which closed at the end of 2024.

Sarpino’s reopened at 11648 W. 135th St.

  • The pizzeria took over a space just off 135th Street and Quivira Road in Overland Park.
  • There, it operates near drive-thru soda shop Swig and Hakata Sushi & Hibachi.
  • This Overland Park franchise is one of five Johnson County locations for the Illinois-based company, in addition to franchises in Shawnee, Leawood and Olathe.
  • Sarpino’s is open at its Overland Park location 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Sarpino’s serves fresh pizzas with “supreme convenience”

The menu at Sarpino’s offers a wide variety of pizzas, from classics like cheese and pepperoni to signature flavors like alfredo chicken and buffalo ranch chicken.

Sarpino’s also serves some vegan pizzas, and some salads, sandwiches and baked pastas in addition to pizza.

While Sarpino’s is a national brand, each location in Johnson County has local franchise owners. Owner Ben Everblue opened the Overland Park franchise with his sister in 2008, which at the time was the Johnson County debut for Sarpino’s.

Though the restaurant didn’t stray far from its original location, Everblue said the move has given the franchise a chance to widen its delivery footprint.

With less space for dine-in than the former space at 125th and Quivira, the new location off 135th Street will focus primarily on pickup and delivery orders.

“We’re serving mostly the same crowd since we’re so close,” he said, “but we are able to change our delivery zones a little to hit some of the further southern customers that we couldn’t quite get to with hot pizza.”

Something else recently closed nearby

The reopening of Sarpino’s at the Quivira Crossings shopping center comes as another business departs.

Last week, locally owned restaurant and mini golf venue Craft Putt announced its closure there after four years.

The company also closed a location across the state line in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
