Watch the Johnson County Post’s 2026 candidate forums and interviews

Kansas House, county commission and Prairie Village mayor candidates answered reader questions live. Catch up before Nov. 3.

There’s a lot on the Nov. 3 ballot, from a high-profile Senate contest to deciding who will be Prairie Village’s next mayor.

Not to mention 18 judicial retention votes (what’s that, you ask?) and a vote on a constitutional amendment regarding whether only citizens should be allowed to vote in Kansas elections.

As part of our mission each year during election season, the Post gets our readers directly in touch with candidates running to represent them by hosting live, in-person forums.

At these forums, moderator and Post editor Kyle Palmer asks questions based on reader input — from emailed suggestions in the weeks leading up to the forum and from attendees in the room that night.

SHAMELESS PLUG

This fall, the Post hosted 11 local candidate forums over seven nights, focused on the most local of races — Kansas House, county commission and Prairie Village mayor. (A hoped-for forum for U.S. House candidates, unfortunately, did not materialize.)

For bigger statewide races, Palmer also extended interview invitations to all candidates running for U.S. Senate, governor, secretary of state, attorney general and a Kansas State Board of Education seat. He got 8 responses and did recorded interviews with those candidates.

If seeing candidates in action, answering live questions and responding in real time to readers’ concerns helps you make up your mind at the ballot box, then jump around to the forums and interviews linked below to learn more about the candidates’ positions in the contests that matter most to you.
